Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and cool.
In a large bowl combine cooked/cooled pasta, olives, tomatoes, onion, mozzarella and salami. Pour about 8 ounces of Italian dressing over salad and gently toss together. Cover and chill for a couple of hours.
When ready to serve, toss in fresh basil and add more dressing, if desired. Spoon pasta salad into individual serving bowls and sprinkle with fresh grated/shaved Parmesan cheese.
Cook's Note: To make basil ribbons, remove leaves from stems. Stack and roll the leaves into a log, thinly slice into ribbons.
